Find and Repair Leaks Beneath the Foundation

A slab leak occurs when a water line beneath or inside a concrete foundation develops a hole, split, failed fitting, or damaged connection. Because the pipe is concealed, water can travel beneath flooring or through surrounding materials before the source becomes visible.

Solid Plumbing & Drains uses targeted diagnostic methods to narrow down the affected line and determine whether direct repair, pipe rerouting, or replacement is the better option.

Could Water Be Leaking Beneath Your Slab?

Slab leaks do not always produce visible standing water. Small changes in flooring, plumbing performance, or water usage can be early signs of an underground problem.

Signs that could indicate a slab leak

A section of flooring feels warm

A warm spot can develop when hot water escapes from a pipe beneath the foundation. The temperature difference might be easier to notice on tile, concrete, or hard-surface flooring.

Water appears along a floor or wall

Moisture near baseboards, cabinets, flooring seams, or lower wall areas could be traveling from a concealed plumbing leak.

The water bill increased unexpectedly

A leaking supply line can continue using water even when no fixtures are running, leading to an unexplained increase in monthly consumption.

Water pressure has decreased

A damaged water line can reduce the amount of pressure reaching faucets, showers, and other fixtures.

You hear water when fixtures are off

Hissing, spraying, or running-water sounds beneath the floor can indicate that a pressurized line is leaking.

I had solid plumbing & drains come out to make some repairs on the drains for both my toilets and replaced my outdated laundry box that was not working. The techs Emmanuel and Mario were so professional, fast, and knew exactly what the problem was. They even went the extra mile and hooked up my washer and dryer once they finished the repairs. Everything works perfectly now. Solid service, fair pricing, and real attention to detail. I’d highly recommend them.

I had some landscape drain problems. Had one of the TV big company over and they essentially said they needed to bust up my concrete patio etc etc and they would not touch a lateral drain. Got in touch with Mario and had a great conversation with him on the problem. He came over with his crew Emanuel and Angel. Mario diagnosed the issue and created a plan of attack. The main drain line was full of roots but he got them and the issue if FIXED. They were pleasant to deal with, very professional and did a great job. I will definitely go back to them for any further inside or outside plumbing problem! Thank you Mario!

Solid Company & Drains Representatives reported as scheduled and came with an attitude of getting the job done. They secured their ladder, hopped up in the attic and within 5 minutes Mario had determined the problem. He took pictures of the area and sent them to me on my phone. He explained each photo. Incredible! Additionally, he suggested that I get a specialty company to use special tools to determine if there is additional water damage in the wall area that they could not see. I really appreciated that suggestion. Thanks to Mario and Angel for their professionalism, friendly attitude, and great plumbing skills!

Emmanuel and Angelo are the best team! They showed up at my house in El Cajon within 30 minutes of calling. We had been dealing with this issue for almost a year, and they were the first ones to actually figure it out. They ran a camera down the drain, found the clog right away, cut out the damaged pipe, and replaced everything properly. Great pricing, super professional, and easy to work with. Highly recommend Solid Plumbing & Drains!

I had a patio drain that was very sluggish. Mario and Angel came and took 2 hours unblocking a mountain of mud from down the line. They were professional, resourceful using multiple pieces of equipment and persistent working till the blockage finally gave way. They also had to go through my house to get to drain and they were very neat laying down plastic to protect my floors. I am a very happy and highly recommend them.

Mario talked a good game, and the job got done. I am not sure I got the best value, but that's partially my fault, in that I was motivated to get an emergency solved ASAP, and so I only got one bid -- from Solid. I would have felt a lot more comfortable if Solid could have provided a line item invoice, so I could see what I was being charged for each task. Mario claimed that they're somehow not allowed to provide that information. There were a few less-than-stellar incidents along the way, causing delays and inconvenience. These seemed to be caused by inadequate attention to detail, perhaps due to Solid being "spread too thin". But the job did finally get done.

We had a leaky copper water line in the attic, dripping through ceiling drywall late on a hot Friday afternoon. We contacted Solid Plumbing & Drains through the Yelp website. We appreciated Mario, the owner, quickly responding by phone and that he arrived with his assistant about an hour later. Mario replaced a short length of the leaking water line, charging $658. So far so good. But Mario said and did several things which caused me to no longer trust him. (1) When he gave me the initial price of $750, he said there were actually two leaky fittings (showed me photos) but the next morning I saw he only made one repair; apparently there was really only one leaky joint. (2) His written estimate said he would make solder joints per code, but then he mentioned he would use a "pro press", which I Googled and found out is essentially a crimped connection which is faster and easier for the plumber. When I told him I wanted conventional soldered joints, he resisted and tried to talk me into the pro press. When I insisted on soldered joints, he said he would need a "change order" to charge more money. I pointed out that his written estimate called for solder joints; he said the estimate was AI generated and it should have said pro press. So after a rather lengthy discussion Mario agreed to do the job with soldered joints, and it looks like he did a good job. (3) He told me his work is guaranteed for one year; but his invoice (received by email hours later) had a link to "terms and conditions", which state that his work is only guaranteed for 90 days. (4) When he first described what he had found in the attic (as he quoted me an initial price of $750) he said the leaks had been going on for some time with damage to a wood beam, and that he would refer me to a remediation company. But at the end (after our disagreement on method of repair) I asked him about the possible beam damage, and he acted like he had never said any such thing.

Slab Leak Repair FAQS for San Diego Properties

How do I know whether I have a slab leak?

Warm flooring, unexplained moisture, running-water sounds, reduced pressure, meter movement, and unusually high water bills can indicate a concealed leak. Testing is needed because other plumbing problems can create similar symptoms.

Sometimes. A leaking line can potentially be rerouted through a wall, ceiling, attic, or another accessible area. Whether rerouting is practical depends on the affected line and property layout.

The schedule depends on the time needed to locate the leak, the selected repair method, accessibility, pipe material, and whether concrete or finished surfaces must be opened. We provide a clearer timeline after the inspection.

No. An isolated failure could require only a direct repair or rerouted line. Complete repiping is generally considered when inspections reveal widespread deterioration or a history of repeated leaks.

Yes. Excessive pressure can place added stress on pipes, fittings, valves, and connections. Testing the property’s water pressure can help determine whether pressure correction should be part of the repair plan.
