Fast Help for Broken and Leaking Pipes
A pipe can fail behind drywall, above a ceiling, beneath a sink, inside an attic, below a slab, or outdoors. Even when the damaged section is small, the escaping water can spread beyond the location where it first becomes visible.
Solid Plumbing & Drains inspects the affected plumbing, isolates the water when possible, and determines whether the problem can be corrected with a localized repair or requires replacement of a larger pipe section.

Not Sure Whether a Pipe Has Burst?
Some pipe failures release a large amount of visible water. Others begin as a split, pinhole opening, or failed fitting hidden behind a finished surface.
Signs that require prompt plumbing attention
Water is spreading across a floor
Water appearing near a wall, cabinet, appliance, or plumbing fixture could come from a damaged supply line or pipe connection.
A wall or ceiling is wet
Stains, bubbling paint, softened drywall, and dripping ceilings can indicate water escaping from plumbing inside the structure.
Water pressure suddenly dropped
A noticeable pressure loss throughout the property can occur when a water line has broken or developed a major leak.
Water is running when fixtures are off
The sound of moving water inside a wall, ceiling, or floor while fixtures are not being used can point to a hidden leak.
The water meter continues moving
Meter movement while every fixture and water-using appliance is off can indicate that water is escaping somewhere on the property.
Clear Solutions During a Stressful Plumbing Problem
A burst pipe requires more than a temporary patch. The damaged material, nearby fittings, water pressure, pipe location, and possible cause should all be considered before the repair is selected.
Local plumbing experience
Solid Plumbing & Drains works with the plumbing materials and property types found throughout San Diego, from older houses to condominiums and commercial buildings.
Careful leak diagnosis
We inspect the visible damage and surrounding plumbing to determine where the pipe failed and whether nearby components also require attention.
Repair options explained clearly
Our plumbers explain what they found, what work is recommended, and whether a localized repair or broader replacement makes more sense.
Residential and commercial support
We repair damaged piping in houses, apartments, HOA communities, restaurants, offices, retail spaces, and other commercial properties.
Help beyond the immediate repair
When a burst pipe is connected to high pressure, deteriorated piping, or repeated leaks, we can discuss pressure correction, additional repairs, or repiping options.

The tech was prompt and did excellent work.

I had solid plumbing & drains come out to make some repairs on the drains for both my toilets and replaced my outdated laundry box that was not working. The techs Emmanuel and Mario were so professional, fast, and knew exactly what the problem was. They even went the extra mile and hooked up my washer and dryer once they finished the repairs. Everything works perfectly now. Solid service, fair pricing, and real attention to detail. I’d highly recommend them.

I had some landscape drain problems. Had one of the TV big company over and they essentially said they needed to bust up my concrete patio etc etc and they would not touch a lateral drain. Got in touch with Mario and had a great conversation with him on the problem. He came over with his crew Emanuel and Angel. Mario diagnosed the issue and created a plan of attack. The main drain line was full of roots but he got them and the issue if FIXED. They were pleasant to deal with, very professional and did a great job. I will definitely go back to them for any further inside or outside plumbing problem! Thank you Mario!

Solid Company & Drains Representatives reported as scheduled and came with an attitude of getting the job done. They secured their ladder, hopped up in the attic and within 5 minutes Mario had determined the problem. He took pictures of the area and sent them to me on my phone. He explained each photo. Incredible! Additionally, he suggested that I get a specialty company to use special tools to determine if there is additional water damage in the wall area that they could not see. I really appreciated that suggestion. Thanks to Mario and Angel for their professionalism, friendly attitude, and great plumbing skills!

Emmanuel and Angelo are the best team! They showed up at my house in El Cajon within 30 minutes of calling. We had been dealing with this issue for almost a year, and they were the first ones to actually figure it out. They ran a camera down the drain, found the clog right away, cut out the damaged pipe, and replaced everything properly. Great pricing, super professional, and easy to work with. Highly recommend Solid Plumbing & Drains!

i hired Mario and his crew (Emmanuel and Angel) today for a landscape drain issue after turning away one of the big TV companies that essentially refused the work. Mario showed up on time, reasonably diagnosed the issue and made a game plan. In the end he was able to clear the problem! They left the job clean. very professional and job well done! thank you!!!

I had a patio drain that was very sluggish. Mario and Angel came and took 2 hours unblocking a mountain of mud from down the line. They were professional, resourceful using multiple pieces of equipment and persistent working till the blockage finally gave way. They also had to go through my house to get to drain and they were very neat laying down plastic to protect my floors. I am a very happy and highly recommend them.

Mario talked a good game, and the job got done. I am not sure I got the best value, but that's partially my fault, in that I was motivated to get an emergency solved ASAP, and so I only got one bid -- from Solid. I would have felt a lot more comfortable if Solid could have provided a line item invoice, so I could see what I was being charged for each task. Mario claimed that they're somehow not allowed to provide that information. There were a few less-than-stellar incidents along the way, causing delays and inconvenience. These seemed to be caused by inadequate attention to detail, perhaps due to Solid being "spread too thin". But the job did finally get done.

We had a leaky copper water line in the attic, dripping through ceiling drywall late on a hot Friday afternoon. We contacted Solid Plumbing & Drains through the Yelp website. We appreciated Mario, the owner, quickly responding by phone and that he arrived with his assistant about an hour later. Mario replaced a short length of the leaking water line, charging $658. So far so good. But Mario said and did several things which caused me to no longer trust him. (1) When he gave me the initial price of $750, he said there were actually two leaky fittings (showed me photos) but the next morning I saw he only made one repair; apparently there was really only one leaky joint. (2) His written estimate said he would make solder joints per code, but then he mentioned he would use a "pro press", which I Googled and found out is essentially a crimped connection which is faster and easier for the plumber. When I told him I wanted conventional soldered joints, he resisted and tried to talk me into the pro press. When I insisted on soldered joints, he said he would need a "change order" to charge more money. I pointed out that his written estimate called for solder joints; he said the estimate was AI generated and it should have said pro press. So after a rather lengthy discussion Mario agreed to do the job with soldered joints, and it looks like he did a good job. (3) He told me his work is guaranteed for one year; but his invoice (received by email hours later) had a link to "terms and conditions", which state that his work is only guaranteed for 90 days. (4) When he first described what he had found in the attic (as he quoted me an initial price of $750) he said the leaks had been going on for some time with damage to a wood beam, and that he would refer me to a remediation company. But at the end (after our disagreement on method of repair) I asked him about the possible beam damage, and he acted like he had never said any such thing.

Does the Damaged Pipe Need Repair or Replacement?
Not every burst pipe requires complete repiping. The right solution depends on the pipe material, location, age, extent of damage, and condition of the surrounding plumbing.
A localized repair could be appropriate when
- The damage is limited to one accessible section
- The surrounding pipe remains in serviceable condition
- A single fitting or connection has failed
- The leak resulted from isolated physical damage
- There is no pattern of repeated failures
- Water pressure is within an appropriate range
Pipe replacement could be appropriate when
- The line contains extensive corrosion
- Several leaks have occurred in a short period
- The damaged material is deteriorating throughout the property
- Multiple fittings or sections are failing
- The existing route is difficult to access repeatedly
- Previous repairs have not stopped recurring leaks
- The pipe material is no longer practical to maintain

Burst Pipe Repair FAQS for San Diego Properties
What should I do first when a pipe bursts?
Turn off the main water supply if you can reach it safely. Keep people away from standing water near electricity, move belongings when safe, and call for plumbing service.
How can I tell where the pipe broke?
Visible dripping does not always identify the damaged pipe because water can travel through walls, ceilings, and flooring. A plumber can inspect the affected area and trace the water to its source.
Can a plumber repair a burst pipe inside a wall?
Yes. The plumber must first locate the damaged section and determine the safest access point. A portion of the wall or ceiling could need to be opened to reach and repair the pipe.
Does one burst pipe mean the property needs repiping?
Not necessarily. A localized repair can be enough when the failure is isolated and the surrounding plumbing remains in good condition. Repeated leaks or widespread deterioration can indicate that partial or complete repiping should be considered.
What causes pipes to burst in San Diego?
Common causes include corrosion, high water pressure, failed fittings, installation problems, soil movement, accidental damage, and aging pipe materials. Freezing is only one possible cause of a broken pipe.
